Dr. Dre is currently working on a movie about Marvin Gaye, according to Variety. The biopic is still in its early stages, but rights to use Gaye’s music have been secured.
Previously, the likes of F. Gary Gray, Cameron Crowe, James Gandolfini, Scott Rudin, Jesse L. Martin and Lenny Kravitz have attempted to bring Gaye’ story to the screen, but have failed to get authorization from Gaye’s family.
Dre’s most recent film credit was as a producer on F. Gary Gray’s N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton.
