Drake Revives ‘Top Boy’ as a Netflix Original Series

It’s finally happening. Drake has revived British crime drama Top Boy, which will return as a Netflix original series. Drizzy bought the rights to the show from Channel 4 earlier this year, but now it’s confirmed that he’s teamed up with Netflix to release the third season in 2019. Netflix originally had the global rights for Top Boy, so it’s a deal that makes sense.

Here’s a description of the new season below:

The third season picks up as Dushane (original star Ashley Walters) returns from exile to his home in London to reclaim his throne in the highly lucrative drug market. He teams with Sully (Kane “Kano” Robinson), his spiritual brother, partner, and sometime rival who is also returning to the same streets after his own form of exile — prison — comes to an end. Awaiting them both is Jamie, the young, hungry and ruthless gang leader whose ambitions leave no place for Dushane and Sully.

Ronan Bennett will handle the script and executive produce alongside Charles Steel and Alasdair Flind and Yann Demange. Drake will also executive produce alongside Adel “Future” Nur, with Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson for LeBron James’ SpringHill Entertainment.
