Aside from releasing a few music gems over the last five years, Eddie Murphy has been off the entertainment grid. However, two weeks ago, the legendary actor surfaced with a trailer for his upcoming 1970s drama, Mr. Church – marking his first appearance on film in over four years.
However, a return to acting isn’t the only thing the icon is plotting, as he recently revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that he’s nearing a return to stand-up for the first time in 30 years.
Mr. Murphy would say he felt the comedy scene become over-saturated with the Def Jam style of doing things. If his pending return is anything like the hilarious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor acceptance speech last year, we’re sure fans will be lined up for this rare opportunity.
