FOX Dates ‘Deadpool 2’, ‘New Mutants’ & ‘X-Men Dark Phoenix’ Films

2018 is going to be crazy!

With 20th Century Fox gearing up for their pending blockbuster smash, War for the Planet of the Apes, the Los Angeles film studio has revealed release dates for several important titles. Last year, Ryan Reynolds won over fans with his comedy-action release of Deadpool; which some even considered to be 2016’s best overall comic-book film not named Doctor Strange.

This weekend, Fox revealed that Deadpool 2, the sequel to their $73M hit, would officially arrive June 29, 2018. However, that wasn’t it for their calendar announcement of next year, as the upcoming X-Men spinoff New Mutants film was shifted to April 13, 2018; where it will go head-to-head with an untitled monster franchise movie from Universal. Before ending their press event on Saturday afternoon, X-Men: Dark Phoenix was given an open slot of November 2, 2018.

The story about Jean Grey and the Phoenix force is set to battle Disney’s Mulan and Paramount’s untitled event movie. With both Marvel and DC Comics battling it out, Fox has quietly taken the throne with their extended and internal X-Men Universe releases. Outside of Black Panther, we’ll be looking for these films to absorb the bulk of our comic-film appetite next year.
