In just two years, HBO is planning end Game of Thrones with a final season split. Show creator, George Martin opened up on the future of the drama – including the possibility of a prequel series.
Following his win at last week’s Emmys, He went to say, “I do have thousands of pages of fake history of everything that led up to Game of Thrones, so there’s a lot of material there and I’m writing more.” While Martin confirmed that were no official plans for a prequel at the moment, he said that the original HBO series needs to complete so he can finish two more books left in its universe.
With showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss both confirming that they won’t be involved a prequel, Benioff went to say, “It’s a very rich world. I’m sure there will be other series set in Westeros, but for us, this is it.” Maybe something changes down the line but both Weiss and Benioff are done with the fantasy-drama after 2018.
