HBO Explains Why ‘Watchmen’ is Not Using Marvel & DC’s Blueprint

Watchmen coming 2019?

Last September, producer Damon Lindelof confirmed that he was officially writing a pilot script for the upcoming live-action series, Watchmen. If you remember, HBO President Casey Bloys also revealed that the spin-off wouldn’t be a straight adaption of the film, receiving multiple changes.

Well, news recently emerged what type of theme and tone the much-anticipated project will have. Late last month, at Vulture Fest, Lindelof revealed that Watchmen was “dangerous.”

He went to say, “The reason I’m doing this is because these are dangerous times and we need dangerous shows.” Soon after, he touched on comparisons for the premium network series, with both the Marvel and DC Cinematic Universes. David said, “What we think about superheroes is wrong. I’m all for Wonder Woman and Batman. I grew up on these characters.

I love these characters. But we should not trust people who put on masks and say they are looking out for us. If you hide your face you are up to no good.” Regarding a possible roll-out, David believes the show could arrive September 2018, but likely sometime in 2019 (after Game of Thrones).
