HBO Gives Update on DC Comics Live-Action ‘Watchmen’ Series

Likely coming 2019!

Earlier this year, reports first emerged that HBO was in talks with DC Comics to upstart a live-action series for Watchmen. The premium network took time to brainstorm ideas and landed producer Damon Lindelof to help helm the project’s official pilot. He’s also set to contribute to several more scripts for season one, which doesn’t have a scheduled roll-out.

Lindelof teased that the show was officially in pre-production, sharing a writer’s room image on his Instagram. HBO President Casey Bloys cited earlier this year that the spin-off wouldn’t be a straight adaption from the acclaimed graphic novel by Alan Moore and David Gibbons.

With fans of DC moderately excited for the project, we’re just hopeful that the network finds a right cast for the series. Look for more details, including lead roles to emerge later this holiday.

Day One.
