Jay Pharoah Blasts SNL After Recent Firing

I’m Not a Yes Nigga,” – Jay Pharoah

One of the biggest mistakes in the history of NBC and Saturday Night Live, was not figuring out how to crack the da vinci code for Jay Pharaoh. Last fall, the company decided to part ways with Pharaoh and Taran Killam, which ended our immediate interest for the series, indefinitely.

This week, Jay stopped by Hot 97 to finally reveal what happened in his unfortunate departure from SNL. When Pharaoh was on the screen with some creative freedom, he was gold – but never was fully let off the training wheels to become the face of the show. Surprisingly, he had nothing bad to say about comedic genius Lorne Michaels, but was saddened about losing a dream job.

Throughout the conversation he said, “You go where you’re appreciated. They put people into boxes. Whatever they want you to do, they expect you to do. I’m not a ‘yes nigga.’ That’s not me.” Watch the full 40-minute interview above, where he touches on fans and fellow cast members saying the show sucks questioning why he wasn’t a bigger part of Saturday Night Live and more.
