John Witherspoon Reveals How Ice Cube is Readying Next ‘Friday’ Film

Bring back Smokey, please!

After many years of teasing plans for a fourth installment in the Friday film series, it looks like Ice Cube is getting closer to re-booting his most prestigious movie creation. A few days ago, legendary comedian and actor John ‘Pops’ Witherspoon was in Orlando for a brief media run.

As expected, he was questioned the status of a potential new Friday film, which Pops had some surprise news. Last week, he was at LAX and coincidentally ran into series creator, Ice Cube, who had some great news for him. The South-Central rap icon confirmed that he was in the preliminary stages of seriously doing another Friday project, and was planning to meet with him in a few days.

However, before the brief clip ended, Pops said that a new guy at Warner Bros. Films was the person to hank for helping the next sequel gain traction this month. So, for the last 15 years, it’s been a person at their parent company holding the franchise hostage indefinitely.

Look for Cube to immediately move forward with plans for the project, which will hopefully have the return of Chris Tucker, if they can work out contractual terms.
