THE KING OF THE NORTH!

Only Game of Thrones super fans will probably care about this tidbit of news, but it’s huge. After years of theories and clues dissecting where Jon Snow really comes from, the show finally revealed some big information. Jon Snow is not Ned Stark’s son.

As seen in the season six finale, Bran goes into a flashback vision to follow his father up the Tower of Joy, where he finds Lyanna Stark (Ned’s sister) bleeding in bed. She then begs Ned to take care of the child she just gave birth to because King Robert would have the baby killed after ordering every member of the Targaryen family wiped out. For years, fans have been trying to piece “R + L = J” and now we get some confirmation.

While the season finale damn near implied Rhaegar Targaryen was the real father, the info-graphic above confirms everyone’s hunch. Jon is still considered a bastard, he is not Ned’s bastard but rather Rhaegar’s. And the Stark blood still runs through him thanks to Lyanna.

There are plenty of theories being thrown around about what this means for Jon moving forward, but whether or not he’s one of the three people that eventually ride the dragons to claim the seven kingdoms or he is the messiah that helps defeat the Whitewalkers, it’s still unknown.

We have 13 more episodes to find out.

Oh yeah, there’s a Reddit user that claims to have read the lips of Lyanna talking to Ned in that tower scene. You know, that part where what she whispered to her brother went silent? It might be Jon’s real name. Apparently, it’s Jaehaerys. Internet theories, we tell ya.
