Dr. Doolittle is making a return. Universal Pictures has today announced that Robert Downey Jr. will play the role of Doctor Dolittle in the upcoming The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle. The director of the Matthew McConaughey-starring Gold, Stephen Gaghan, is behind the movie with original screenplay based on the Hugh Lofting character.
Rex Harrison previously played Doctor Dolittle in 1967, with Eddie Murphy reprising the role in the 1998 and 2001 films. Soon, Robert Downey Jr. will be a physician talking to animals, too.
