A number of stores over the weekend teased what looked like a collaboration between Skepta and Nike. Now, the speculation have been confirmed, with the veteran grime artist unveiling his very own pair of Air Max 97. The Sk sneaker is inspired by Skepta’s love of Nike Air and his home-away-from-London, Morocco, which provided colors, sounds and stories that shaped the collaboration’s design.
“I have been wearing Air Max for so long, since I was seven playing around in the estate; I feel like I know my Air Max well,” Skepta says. “Air Max is from when we were running the streets, it was comfortable to wear in London, whether you were going out to a club or kicking a ball in the streets. Those kinds of things stick in my mind from the young, magical, fantasy years of my life.”
The Nike Air Max Sk will be available September 2nd.
