Have you ever heard of Swaziland, South Africa? It is home to the legendary marijuana strain (sativa) Swazi Gold. VICE traveled to the land high in rich soil to find out more about the crop and test to see if it really is absent of CBN cannabinoids.
Although the experiment was a failure, they still learned a lot about the strain, including why poor farmers have opted to grow, first-hand accounts from weed smugglers in the country and the reasons why Swazi Gold is such a sought after strain.
The country is currently under economic hardships and there are some who would like to see marijuana legalized, to give people the opportunity to make a way for themselves. Of course, those involved in the illegal activity don’t want to see hit happen, because it’ll bring their profit down. Potentially, Swaziland can become the Amsterdam of Africa, the continent which grows the most weed per capita in the entire world.
