Compton comes to A&E this summer
Today, A&E Networks has officially announced a partnership with rapper The Game, to launch a new documentary series, entitled the Streets of Compton. The show, which is set to premiere June 9th at 9:00pm ET/PT on the network will chronicle to the Los Angeles neighborhood’s history with music, culture and style – dating back to the new ‘80s and ‘90s.
Influenced by local Pirus, Crips and the Sureños, Chuck Taylor and fellow original residents of the town will share their story of drugs, gangs and political turmoil that changed lives of many.
In related news, an accompanying 11-track Streets of Compton compilation album is set to release this summer, which saw its first single release last week on “Roped Off.” While Game has confirmed that the rumored G-Unit reunion won’t go down anytime soon, it’s interested that he’ll be on the same network this summer, which is also set to premiere 50 Cent’s upcoming variety series.
