Applaud the people behind the scenes that make this happen.
From watching Game of Thrones on HBO every week while the season is live, its’ easy to see how crazy the landscape and scenery on the show is. The one thing we weren’t really aware of is just how much visual effects play a role in this, seemingly creating something out of nothing after filming scenes.
This came in part by VFX studio Rodeo and Mackevision.
From making soldiers ready for battle multiply by the thousands, to the scenery going above and beyond what real life may capture.
The first video is from Montreal-based Rodeo, while the Mackevision reel of their contribution is down below. They both brought something to the table in terms of making real footage and computer generated landscapes look impressive.
Just call them the unsung heroes of the show.
By the way, there are plenty of spoilers of the show (not so much the plot), in case you haven’t seen an episode of the series yet. Nothing too crazy, though.
