The Weeknd has officially cut ties with H&M due to a racist image used by the company.
The photo in question features a black boy wearing a hoodie with the words “Coolest Monkey in the Jungle” on the front. “Woke up this morning shocked and embarrassed by this photo,” The Weeknd said on Twitter. “I’m deeply offended and will not be working with H&M anymore.”
H&M took down the photo earlier today, with H&M spokeswoman Anna Eriksson saying, “This image has now been removed from all H&M channels and we apologize to anyone this may have offended.”
The Toronto singer worked with H&M on two clothing collections, the most recent dropping this past September.
