Vine Is Dead

Our favorite social network to catch sports highlights or funny clips is about to die. Twitter has decided that it’s killing off Vine in the coming months, after the platform didn’t perform as well as they hoped when they bought it back in 2012. With Instagram adding video and Snapchat popping up, it was a competitive market that they couldn’t keep up and grow like Twitter wanted.

Significant layoffs hit Vine today to go along with the 9% of employees that Twitter is laying off, to help a sustainable path forward.

As of now, Vine (nor Twitter) will delete your Vines and they will keep them on their website. How long is anyone’s guess, though. At some point, everything will be dead.

“We value you, your Vines, and are going to do this the right way. You’ll be able to access and download your Vines. We’ll be keeping the website online because we think it’s important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made.”

Damn man. RIP to all basketball highlights, football highlights, boxing clips, dancing videos and everything we used to troll, make fun of people or respond to others with.
