‘The Batman’ will no longer be directed by Affleck

After months of rumors regarding Ben Affleck’s status with directing the stand-alone Batman film in the new DC Universe, Warner Bros. has shared some major news regarding directorial duties.

As of right now, both sides mutually agreed that taking upon the job as lead role, producer and director was just too much for his plate, as his role will be diminished to just focusing on his Dark Knight character. While Ben is still competing a script before filming officially starts later this year, the search for a new director and tasks will be the least of his worries heading forward.

Affleck said, “There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film.

I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

Warner and DC Comics are yet to formally announce the release date for The Batman, but fans of the companies should have some information in August – before Justice League releases.
