RELATED: 21 Savage’s Birth Certificate Is Revealed, Confirms UK Birth
A few days ago, 21 Savage released one of the most eye-raising rap videos we’ve seen in a long time. In the visual, he shed light on immigration issues; as well as the Flint water crisis that hasn’t been solved after five years. Hours before today’s Super Bowl, in his hometown of Atlanta; the Saint Laurent Don was arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
They claimed the 26-year-old rapper is actually from the United Kingdom and illegally entered the states in July 2005, on a visa. His visa reportedly expired a year later, but he decided to extended his stay and soon become one of the biggest names in music. An ICE spokesperson spoke on the targeted operation, citing 21 as an unlawfully present United Kingdom national. He also revealed 21 was been placed in removal proceedings before the federal immigration courts.
21 Savage’s camp spoke to DJ Akademiks about the ICE arrest below.
Spoke to 21 savage team… this whole situation a big misunderstanding … hope it gets cleared up quickly. There’s a logical explanation behind everything as well… but until then them U.K. jokes gonna fly. When the real story comes out a lot will identify with it .

Also they told me their first priority is his freedom and sorting this out…. not tryna prove to ppl online where he from or whatever else is being said. And of course definitely denying all claims that his “rap persona” is fake.

Whew. I deleted the initial tweet because I was getting some conflicting information. But I was right, Dominica is part of the Commonwealth of Nations/British Commonwealth. Gained its independence in ‘78.

This makes me so goddamned sad. At first I was just confused and now the Complete Fucking Bummer of this story has set in. I hope when journalists put this into context they tell the story of Dominica, of the British Caribbean.
