It’s been a crazy past year for 6LACK, who after his “PRBLMS” single blew up last year, has released his debut album FREE 6LACK and worked with the likes of Jhené Aiko, Syd, J.I.D and Malay.
As part of Apple Music’s ‘Up Next,’ a new documentary series that focuses on up and coming artists, 6LACK sat down with Zane Lowe to discuss his rise. He talks about starting out as a battle rapper, wanting to collaborate with Young Thug and more.
“I’ve been 6LACK to people’s parents, to grandmothers, to cousins,” he says about his name. “It was just from growing up on that side of town, like that was zone 6 and zone 6 is a part of what shaped me.”
