A Salute To…. Pimp C

It’s been 6 years to the day since the unfortunate timely demise of the late great Chad “Pimp C” Butler. While he was only able to provide us with one proper solo album in the streets (among them classic UGK tapes we grew up listening to), Pimp C was one of the most underrated artists we’ve come across in rap. From producing, mixing and mastering cuts for the UGK team where Bun’s only task was to provide an elite 16; which is why the Pimp was ahead of time musically and proved cats are still catching up on game years after he left us.

During the South’s peak years, Bun B played the backseat in the early stages; but when Pimp touched the streets it was UGK season for the next two years taking over the hip-hop game. There’s still Pimp C material in the archives, as Juicy J has confirmed he’ll be producing and partaking part in when it finally touches our airs. Whether that happens next year remains to be seen, but we still have them timeless classics and modern features to listen to always.

Speaking of which, we took time to pay homage to Sweet James Jones with a tribute playlist for 2013 with some of our favorite tracks past and present from the Port Arthur Texas native. After the jump, you can listen to playlist filled with Pimp C and UGK classics.
