Alex Wiley is aiming to raise the bar in the current wave of Chicago emcees, and his new project Village Party looks to be an assuring career move. As a follow-up to his guest-heavy debut Club Wiley, the rapper’s neat array of 14 tracks showcases much more of a compact delivery, with tightly tuned verses alongside features from fellow city natives, Kembe X and Mick Jenkins.
