Apple Music Launches a 24/7 TV Channel Strictly for Music Videos

Remember when TV channels would play music videos? It seems like a lost art, but Apple Music is bringing it back to the essence.

Today, the company has launched Apple Music TV, a free 24-hour live stream of popular videos. It will be curated and available to US residents. If you’re online, you’ll be able to watch on the Browse tab of Apple Music and Apple TV app. Plus, you’ll be able to watch other original content Apple Music has created over the years like concert films and interviews.

The new channel will host video premieres at noon EST every Friday for New Music Fridays. The first videos to premiere (on the 23rd) will be Joji’s “777” and Saint JHN’s “Gorgeous.”

Starting today, the channel will launch with a countdown of videos from the Top 100 most-streamed songs in the U.S. since Apple Music launched.

While MTV revolutionized this specific format, it seems like Apple Music is competing with YouTube in this space now. Will they be able to carve a percentage from their viewership or will YouTube continue reigning supreme?
