A$AP Rocky Pleads Not Guilty to Assault in Stockholm

A$AP Rocky has pleaded not guilty to assault in Stockholm this morning, CBS News reports.

The Harlem rapper’s trial got underway at Stockholm District Court today, where he and two associates were being charged with assaulting alleged victim Mustafa Jafari on June 30th.

Prosecutors say that they “deliberately, together and in agreement” attacked him. The court documents, which run 500 pages, allege that they beat and kicked Jafari when he was on the ground and hit him with a bottle.

Rocky’s lawyer Martin Persson submitted his plea of not guilty, claiming he was acting in self-defense. Rocky was sat next to him dressed in prison uniform of a green T-shirt and trousers, but didn’t speak.

Rocky’s mother, Renee Black, attended the trial, which is being held in a secure courtroom due to large interest from the media and the public. The court has also set aside Thursday and Friday for the case, but it’s unclear whether it will go the full three days.
