OS Flashback: Babyface – When Can I See You

Artist: Babyface
Song: “When Can I See You Again”
Producer: L.A. Reid, Babyface, Daryl Simmons
Album: For the Cool in You
Director: N/A

If there’s a heartbreak record you go to once things end between you and your significant other, Babyface‘s “When Can I See You” has to be Top 3. The For the Cool in You single is so sad and makes you wish you’d see your former lover again, even if just one time before saying goodbye forever. We’ve all been there. Yearning to be in the same room with that special someone, hoping it happens soon so the pain of losing them could subside a bit. With just a guitar and finger snaps, Kenny Edmonds channeled all the hurt into one record and it became a smash.

The song is actually Babyface’s most successful record on the charts, peaking on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 4 back in 1994. Not only that, but it earned him his first GRAMMY Award.

One time for all the sad people who just experienced a break-up and need some consolation.
