Barack Obama Thanks Chance the Rapper at Chicago Concert

Chance the Rapper has many titled nowadays. Rapper, father, actor, activist, etc. One you may not have known about until this weekend is the fact he’s a grand marshal, as seen at this year’s Bud Billiken parade.

Not only did Chano give away free school supplies to parade-goers, but he also announced a free concert that featured another Chi-town native: Jeremih. Not to mention Future and plenty of others. The show not only brought out some friends, but also a warm welcome from former President of the United States, Barack Obama.

He appeared on the screen to thank Chance and offer up some words for the crowd.

“I felt obliged to say congratulations to you for being the Grand Marshal of Bud Billiken. I did it once and I ended up being President, so you never know what might happen.

I wanted to just have the chance to say to all of you that the Bud Billiken parade stands for so much that our community is about. We want to make sure our kids are safe. We want to make sure that they are ready for going back to school. We want to make sure that we are nurturing and attentive and encouraging and loving the next generation of leaders all around the city of Chicago.”
