One of the most curious things about Kendrick Lamar’s credits for DAMN. is the work of a mysterious producer named Bekon, who contributes to eight of the 14 tracks on the album. The list includes songs like “Yah,” “Element” and “Duckworth,” but he’s no stranger to working with big names. His mentor is DJ Khalil and he’s produced for the likes of Dr. Dre, Eminem and Snoop Dogg as Danny Keyz.
The artist, whose real name is Dan Tannenbaum, is making his solo debut today with a song called “Cold as Ice.” The song is hard box into a single genre, and was born out of having his heart broken after dating a girl in New York.
