Big news came out of Def Jam this weekend, considering Snoop Dogg is a consultant and is already making moves. According to his appearance on the Joe Rogan Podcast, Snoop has signed Benny the Butcher to the legendary label.
With things looking to resurrect thanks to The Doggfather and Tunji (as CEO), this is a major play.
The label has not been at the height as it once was in its heyday, but artists like Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Pusha T, YG and Dave East have been holding their weight.
The news is big for Buffalo, NY and Griselda/BSF, who have been putting it down on their own for years and taking over the rap game. Based on Benny’s post, it looks like his Black Soprano Family will be under the umbrella and the stock for the likes of Heem and Rick Hyde has gone up.
