Big Sean Scores First No. 1 Album on Billboard for ‘Dark Sky Paradise’

In recent weeks, Big Sean has admitted to a sophomore jinx for his 2013 release of Hall of Fame under-performing. While the Detroit rapper went back to the drawing boards with Kanye West and JAY Z over the last two years, he now finally gets to enjoy mainstream success with his critically-acclaimed album, Dark Sky Paradise.

The G.O.O.D. Music and Roc Nation representative has finally scored his first ever no. 1 album on Billboard with 173,000 units sold in its opening week. The project surpasses his first two albums combined in opening week sales, which both peaked at no. 3 on the charts. This marks the Chicago-based labels third ever debut at no. 1, which Common’s 2007 effort Finding Forever and Yeezus in 2013 being the only others to top charts.
