More Sweet James Jones stories are nearing!

Since the original Mass Appeal Records announcement last spring of a posthumous Pimp C album arriving, we’ve been closely monitoring any news that surfaces regarding the project. During October, Pimp C’s estate confirmed the project was indeed in the works and would be executive produced by Juicy J.

In a recent sit-down interview with XXL, Professor Bun B gave fans an update on the much-anticipated project, revealing it’s being releasing an EP – and not an album. Although he’s not involved with he project hands on, he’ll be joining the likes of Mike WiLL Made It, Wiz Khalifa, Rick Ross Chris Brown, A$AP Rocky, Lil Wayne, E-40 and Warren G to make contributions with Mr. TRiPPY.

XXL: Is the Pimp C Mass Appeal posthumous album still happening?
Bun B: It is happening. I’m not the person that’s putting it together. It’s actually his wife, Chinara, that’s putting it together. She and Juicy J are the ones that are putting the project together. I’m consulting them. They come by me and just ask, “Do you think this is right?” But for the most part I’m not involved with the day-to-day aspects of the album. The album is a real project. I think it’s an EP though, not an album. But it’s a very real project and is coming along very well.

Where are they getting the songs?
She was very lucky in the fact that Pimp C was a very prolific writer and recorder. He spent the majority of his time, waking hours, in the studio. So there was work available for her. There were songs released that she was able to gather and songs he’s done with other artists that weren’t released that came back to the estate.
