Chance The Rapper’s ‘Coloring Book’ is 1st Streaming-Only Project to Chart Billboard 200

Congrats are in orders for Chano!

One week after its premiere on Apple Music and the official numbers have been released for Chance the Rapper’s new mixtape, Coloring Book. The Chicago rapper managed to acquire 57.3 million streams through Apple Music, to debut at no. 8 on the Billboard 200 this week.

In total, he finished with 38,000 equivalent album units (1,500 streams is equivalent to one album unit). This marks the first project to ever chart from entirely streams, and will remain on Apple Music’s streaming service until this Friday when Spotify, Google, Tidal and others receive it.

Kanye West’s February album, The Life of Pablo, would’ve charted on its first week; but Tidal opted not to report stats to Nielsen Music for Billboard (as well as a physical release soon after) – resulting in Chano getting the streaming-only accomplishment. Kudos Mr. Bennett
