Common Talks Kendrick Lamar, Solange & Chance The Rapper Inspiration on Breakfast Club

‘Black America Again’

This Friday, Common will be returning with his new album, Black America Again, which he’s calling it a hub for black art and expression. Above, he sits down with The Breakfast Club to discuss the uplifting project, which continues from socially-conscious sounds from his 2014 effort, Nobody’s Smiling. Throughout the conversation, he opened up on wanting to see black privilege implemented in today’s society, as well as having concerns for next week’s election of millennials not voting.

He went to explain how the movements in the public eye of Kendrick Lamar, Solange and Chance the Rapper, as well as Kanye West, have all inspired him to keep his legendary music career going for longer than 20-years. Watch more from the interview, where he also touches on his upcoming ‘90s rappers’ TV series, bringing the CEO of Starbucks to Southside Jamaica Queens and a hilarious story with Rick Ross and President Barrack Obama at the White House.
