Dave East‘s momentum keeps growing with every release, but today he’s returning to last year’s Kairi Chanel project with a video for “The Real Is Back.” The track is of course the East Harlem rapper’s collaboration with Beanie Sigel, which is a bucket list thing for him. It was shot in Beanie’s home of North Philly, which is also where East’s aunt is from.
“That was like a dream come true for me because Sigel is one of my top three favorite rappers of all time. I grew up on Beans,” East says. “Just to be able to be in the same room. He gave me a lot of game that night. We both Muslim so that was another level of respect. It was beautiful man. That whole thing let me know I’m still on pace to be where I need to be.”
