Dave East is one of only two New York rappers on this year’s XXL Freshmen cover (the other being Desiigner). The Harlem native earned a spot following the release of his Hate Me Now and Tales from the East projects under Nas’ Mass Appeal Records. The pair even collaborated on a song called “Forbes List.”
As XXL continues to roll out videos, Dave East is next up to spit acapella and give a quick profile of himself. East talks about making it out of Spanish Harlem, trying to make it in basketball before music, being heavy into religion and Nas being like a big brother.
