Deconstructed with ChaseTheMoney: The Making of J.I.D & J. Cole’s “Off Deez”

It’s crazy to think that ChaseTheMoney didn’t even know of J.I.D before he played him the beat. Apparently, it happened all out of the blue and the result is a straight slapper. As the producer explains on this segment of Deconstructed, there were several ideas floating around of who should go on the song (Kendrick Lamar, Ski Mask the Slump God, Future), but J. Cole was the one who ended up on there when it was all said and done.

As Chase puts it, he only used seven sounds for the entire beat. He likes to keep things simple and not overproduce when it’s not necessary.

Oh, and he teased a remix too. That’s on the way.
