“Panda” landed Desiigner a deal with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music earlier this year, and now, it’s the biggest song in the country. Earlier today, Billboard revealed that Desiigner’s first ever single has hit the number one spot on the Hot 100 chart. The Brooklyn rapper’s song has 35 million overall US streams and puts an end to Rihanna and Drake’s nine weeks at the top with “Work.”
18-year old Desiigner is the youngest male artist to top the charts since Chris Brown was 18 with “Kiss Kiss,” and the youngest overall artist since Lorde was 16 with “Royals.” Stevie Wonder holds the overall record of being 13 years old when “Fingertips – Pt 2” reached number one.
Elsewhere, Drake’s “One Dance” rises to number three and becomes his 17th top 10 single on the chart.
