After being an Apple Music exclusive since 2015, it looks like Dr. Dre‘s timeless classic The Chronic is coming to other streaming services. On April 20, the West Coast gem will be coming to Spotify, TIDAL and other DSP’s.
Before 2015, the album was not online because Dre did not agree to have it available digitally after his 2011 lawsuit with Death Row Records.
Following the lawsuit, the victory have Dre 100% of the proceeds of any online sales of his music and the right to decide how the 1992 album would be distributed. It wasn’t until Apple Music launched that he decided it would be on there.
eOne’s Global President, Chris Taylor, said this of the news:
“These historic artifacts should be heard by all music lovers, and we are so happy Dr. Dre has opened this door so everyone can experience the brilliance of this seminal work.”
Make sure you stock up on that good gas so you can spark one to the classic when it’s available.
