Drake & Post Malone Were Originally Featured on Lil Wayne’s “What About Me”

#WhatAboutMe

Earier this weekend, when Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V released, most the world ran straight to the album credits for each track. One unusual sighting, was Drake and Post Malone credited on Tunechi’s popular track, What About Me.” In a conversation with the Rolling Stone, Johnny Yukon, who co-wrote the song, explained the real story behind the song.

Johnny went to say, “The initial idea was to get Drake on it. That was something Lil Wayne said to me that night he recorded his vocals. Then there were emails back and forth — ‘They think Drake’s going to get on it.” He soon revealed, that Drake declined the guest feature for the song this week, as they wanted to look for another big name on the cut. Post Malone was soon tapped and recorded his vocals last second on release day before its formal submission to streaming services.

For whatever reason, a file wasn’t properly delivered and missed the deadline. However, Yukon insisted that he and Wayne were happy with the final product and its reception from fans. Let us know in the comments if you want this version left alone or would welcome an official remix.
