Ella Mai Addresses Jacquees “Boo’d Up” Remix Controversy, New Success

Over the course of the past few weeks, Ella Mai was involved in a little bit of controversy because of a remix to “Boo’d Up” by Jacquees that got taken down. Before her interview on Hot 97, DJ Mustard released a statement saying, “When you monetize content you don’t own you are stealing and no one steals from 10 Summers.”

Now that her album dropped, Ella stopped by Hot 97 to promote her project and of course, was asked what happened with the whole Jacquees deal.

She said she really had nothing to do with it, and it was more of the label taking care of that, but she did not block him on Instagram because she didn’t even follow him to begin with. She also said she’s not mad at what happened or Jac remixing her record, especially because she came up doing covers.

Among other topics they spoke on: the UK scene with R&B, how “Boo’d Up” blew up, what song could be the next single and how she was discovered.
