Erick Sermon – Come Thru (feat. Method Man, Craig Mack & Mr. Cheeks)

No, it’s not the late 1990’s even though it may seem like it with a lineup like the one you see on this one. Erick Sermon has reached out to the likes of Method Man, Craig Mack and Mr. Cheeks for his new single “Come Thru.” The Wu-Tang, Defsquad and old Bad Boy track will be found on his GO album, which is slated to drop this year. He announced everything through Kickstarter:

Def Squad is back with a bang, starting with a new album featuring some of the top names of today like Pharrell Williams, Ghost Face, Redman, Styles P, Too Short and Big K.R.I.T. to name a few.

We have 8 tracks in the can so far, and plan to add another 3 so there’ll be 11 in total on the album. I’m a fast worker so it will be ready by the spring, so watch this space…

As a taster, one of the new tracks is called Southern Girl and features Pharrell and Big K.R.I.T. It was inspired by my Mom – who grew up in Alabama and Florida – and I like to think that everyone is a Southern girl at heart.

I still have my studio in New York and all the original equipment which enabled me to produce beats like the popular 2001 track “Just Like Music,” sampling the late, great Marvin Gaye. Therefore many of the costs of producing a mainstream album are already covered. But I still need funds to finance the sampling – which doesn’t come cheap – plus a sound engineer and all the costs involved in marketing the album to as wide an audience as possible, not just die-hard hiphop fans but to introduce great music to a new generation.

If you want to support Sermon on his album campaign, hit Kickstarter and donate some money his way.
