Freddie Gibbs and Madlib Discuss ‘Bandana’ vs. ‘Piñata’

Last week, Freddie Gibbs and Madlib finally announced that their second album, Bandana, will be out on June 28th. Ahead of its release, the rapper-producer duo caught up with Billboard to discuss the anticipated new project.

“Ain’t nothing changed actually, I don’t think,” Gibbs said about Bandana vs Piñata. “I mean, we still doing the same thing we was doing on the first album. Having fun, trying new shit, taking risks.” As for Madlib, he agreed saying that it’s “another chapter, a continuation basically.”

They also revealed that there’s some significance to the album title, but people will have to wait for the track titles for it to make sense. They also spoke on working with Pusha T and Killer Mike, and Madlib’s unreleased material with Mac Miller.
