Freddie Gibbs & Madlib Take Fans Behind the ‘Diamond Mine Sessions’ Project

Whenever Freddie Gibbs and Madlib come together, it’s magic. The two did again with Bandana and now they’re putting a new twist on tracks from the album. Teaming up with Leon Michels and his band El Michels Affair, the duo cooked up The Diamond Mine Sessions, which are live versions of songs like “Gat Damn,” “Freestyle Shit” and “Palmolive.”

Gangsta Gibbs says the inspiration behind this was JAY Z Unplugged.

The project is available on Amazon Music now and was recorded in a Queens, NY studio by the same name. As you can see from the video above, the two are performing with the band and explaining how it all came about.

What’s interesting is that Fred mentioned the fact that the two have so many songs in the can and could release more projects if necessary.

So, expect more music from these two.
