Gallant broke through with his debut album Ology in 2016, which lead to a solo tour and also supporting John Legend on the road. Now, for the first time since, the Washington, D.C. singer is back with new music in the form of “Gentleman.”
In the video directed by Sasha Samsonova, a shirtless Gallant (reminiscent of D’Angelo’s “Untitled (How Does It Feel)”) puts his words into motion. “For this particular song where I’m tapping into more the side of me that is pretty confident, the only way to really get the whole picture and not present something distorted or not true to myself would be to pair it with something that’s equally as vulnerable,” he says. “It was just the most accurate representation of me as a human being, personally and artistically.”
The single is taken from his sophomore album, due out later this year.
