Just when you thought H.E.R. couldn’t get any personal through her music, she hit us with Pt. 2 and gave us so much honesty. The EP shies away from the nostalgic ’90s influence a bit and takes more of an acoustic route. One of the records showcasing that musical range is “Fate,” the emotional ballad that carries so much weight. She trades the piano riff from the original for a guitar strum, while still injecting that passion to the record. The album version is stripped as is, so this live performance fits the vibe of the actual track.
