JAY-Z Deserves Credit for Helping NYC Drill Rappers Avoid RICO Cases

JAY-Z Deserves Credit NY Senate Bill S7527

EXCLUSIVE: Woman at Los Angeles Mansion Claims Pop Smoke Murder was a Set Up

JAY-Z deserves credit NY Senate Bill S7527, which has now saved many rappers from illegally being invested after the current YSL situation in Atlanta. While the Woo and Choo situation may never be resolved, the rise of Bronx drill has taken over the city of New York.

While drill has been blamed for the rise of crime in NYC, it’s essentially been a scapegoat for the lack of jobs and opportunities many have endured post-pandemic.  Last week, the New York State Senate passed Bill S7527, which would limit prosecutors’ use of song lyrics and other forms of creative expression as evidence in criminal cases.

For those that remember, this was pivotal in the Tr3yway RICO raid, where 6ix9ine’s lyrics were used as a trojan horse to speed up the arrest process that was going on before he joined the bloods.  Now, sadly, this same situation is happening in Atlanta with Young Thug, Gunna and the rest of YSL over their song lyrics.

At the top of the year, Jay-Z and Meek Mill were public supporters of the bill, seeing what was happening to the culture of hip-hop with creative expression rights being used as evidence of a crime.  This is a major win for anybody in NYC that has left the street life behind to discuss past stories they’ve seen or heard of in the streets.

If you notice above, we’ve included a photo of Pop Smoke, who was targeted and monitored by law enforcements for his lyrics before he died.  Killer Mike, who’s also been an advocate in the bill, wants this passed in multiple states.

In recent years, we’ve seen more of these rappers do more for their immediate circle and community, which opens the door for jobs for people to become positive productive members of society.  Without a co-sign from Jay, this wouldn’t have gotten any attention through his current police reform movement with Meek Mill.

Every rapper in the modern climate of New York City owes Jay a thank you for helping them avoid this eye-raising tactic that was used against Young Thug and his camp.
