Jay Z, Desiree Perez, and OG Juan, photographed at the "Magna Carter World Tour" after-party at the now-closed Gatsby Social Club in Houston on December 19, 2013. Earlier that night Hov had performed for a sold-out crowd at the city's Toyota Center. The rap mogul is wearing a Billionaire Boys Club Bee Line "Lombardi" coach jacket ($325). /// While today is her husband's birthday, I'd like to take a moment to shout out Roc Nation's Chief Operating Officer. Recently Desiree was one of six of the music industry's most powerful women who wrote a letter addressed to the Recording Academy's board of trustees, calling the organization "woefully out of touch with today's music, the music business, and even more significantly society." They also added that the academy, which presents the Grammy Awards, needs to become more inclusive and transparent. The letter came after another year of disappointing results, and especially in light of a statement made by Neil Portnow, the president of the Recording Academy, in which he declared that women in music need to "step up" to advance their careers. Perez has also had indirect involvement in the rapid spread of the much needed #MeToo campaign. She has been working as a driving force behind several female artists, one of whom was Mariah Carey, vocalizing their support for the Time's Up movement. Both OG and Desiree have used their position in the JAY-Z circle of influence to change the music industry for better, and no doubt will continue to do so. #jayz #ogjuan #desireeperez
