For those that weren’t aware, Jermaine Dupri has a new show on Lifetime called The Rap Game, where he’s been helping young kids get their foot in the door and the winner of all the contestants gets to sign a deal with him and put an album.
Although he was there to promote the series, The Breakfast Club got the producer to talk about other things, like how Iggy Azalea curved him when he was trying to work with her, why Bow Wow is a child star legend in the black community and how fans consume music nowadays. Dupri argued that people don’t actually have short attention spans, but rather, artists get scared of not being popping so they release music at a rampant pace to keep up with demand.
The crew also got him to talk about why there probably won’t be a So So Def movie, if there were any problems with his label and of course, his relationship with Janet Jackson.
We were in tears when Charlamagne asked if “JD” stood for “Janet’s dude” at one point.
