With TIDAL in serious financial troubles, it was reported early in the summer that Apple Music was looking to acquire the streaming service. That doesn’t seem to be the plan anymore, as Jimmy Iovine (an Apple Music executive) has denied reports and shut down speculation.
“We’re really running our own race. We’re not looking to acquire any streaming services.”
Artists like Kanye West have come out in favor of the merger, due to the fact the two companies are at odds with exclusives and due to contracts with each, cannot work as well in releasing projects as freely as they want (see: the Yeezy and Drake album).
Looks like someone else is going have to hit TIDAL with the bail-out package.
