Yeezy doesn’t debut no. 1 on Billboard – due to stat submission

Only 10 days removed from the digital-only released seventh studio album, The Life of Pablo, Kanye West is still planning to keep his new LP a TIDAL exclusive – with no signs of a physical release. As JAY Z’s music service boasted its biggest exclusive to date, the company failed to report stats to Nielsen Music, as Billboard decided not to include Yeezy’s T.L.O.P. on this week’s chart.

In an interview with The NY Times, President Silvio Pietroluongo, went to tell the publication, “Billboard has been informed that Tidal is not currently reporting streams for tracks on Kanye’s album to Nielsen Music. Therefore streams from Tidal for this title will not contribute to Billboard’s chart rankings at this time.” Interestingly enough, the project didn’t receive an RIAA platinum certification – like his fellow music partner Rihanna was granted last month for her ANTI album.

While it’s unlikely that the album will appear on Apple Music or Spotify anytime soon, Yeezy is defending his stance with TIDAL, as well as giving no indication of a physical roll-out before spring.

In related news, TMZ has reported today that Tidal has doubled from 1 million to 2.5 million subscriptions and counting – which could add up to $15 million in additional revenue.
