Kendrick Lamar & TDE’s ‘Black Panther’ Album First Week Sales Revealed

Free: Stream Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Black Panther’ Album

With Black Panther doing extremely well in its opening weekend at the box offices this weekend, Billboard has revealed official first week sales numbers for the film’s soundtrack. Black Panther: The Album debuts at no. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 154,000 equivalent album units.

Of that total, 52,000 copies were in traditional album sales for the Kendrick Lamar and Top Dawg Entertainment release. This happens to be the largest debut for a movie soundtrack since 2016’s Suicide Squad: The Album, which earned 182,000 units. Through digital data, the Black Panther project also generated 93,000 streaming equivalent album units also.
